As the irrelevant people left, the site grew quieter, save for Melody’s incessant screams, which grated on everyone’s nerves.
Taking a step forward, Lucinda shot a cold glance at Melody, who lay restrained on the floor, held down by Abel.
Melody kept spewing curses.
“Lucinda! You’re going to suffer a horrible death, you bitch! I won’t let you get away with this!”
Her curses continued unabated. Finally, when she was exhausted, Lucinda looked at Abel and said, “Let her go.”
“What? Miss Simmons, she’s a lunatic! If we release her, what if she tries to harm you?” Abel protested.
“It’s fine. Just let her go,” Lucinda insisted.
Reluctantly, Abel and the others loosened their grip on Melody. They were left with no choice.
Seizing the opportunity, Melody swiftly retrieved a small pair of golden scissors from her pocket and lunged at Lucinda, aiming to strike before the bodyguards could react.
“Bitch! Go to hell!”
“Watch out!”

Alarmed by the shouts, the bodyguards and Noelle quickly called out to Lucinda. Reacting swiftly, Lucinda delivered a powerful side kick to the back of Melody’s hand, causing her to drop the scissors.
Melody stood there, totally stunned.
She had been defeated by Lucinda in such a short time?!
While Melody was still dazed, the bodyguards swiftly subdued her again and pinned her down.
With a blank expression, Lucinda stepped on Melody’s weapon hand, crouched down, and hissed in a low voice, “Melody, you underestimated me. Even though I’m pregnant, you still can’t beat me. I just chose not to fight back earlier.”
“Ahhh!”
Melody let out a hysterical scream.
Annoyed by the incessant noise, Lucinda furrowed her brows and delivered a hard slap across Melody’s face.
Melody winced as a searing pain shot through her cheek, and tears threatened to spill from her eyes.
Seeing Melody’s sudden silence, Lucinda firmly gripped her chin, raised her face, and calmly dissected the situation.
“You should’ve stayed put in prison. What possessed you to show up at the grand opening of the new show I poured my money into? And to top it off, you managed to steal the scissors from the crew meant for the ribbon-cutting. Impressive planning! Whose brilliant idea was this?”
Melody simply sneered, resolute in her refusal to respond.
